A hunter reported missing on Stewart Island has been found ‘‘alive and well’’.
A search and rescue operation was launched yesterday morning after the 74-year-old Whangarei hunter was reported overdue from a hunting trip.
Sergeant Ian Martin, of Invercargill, said the man was last seen about 6pm on Saturday night when he went out to hunt, but failedto return.
He was located by Stewart Island Search and Rescue staff about 6pm yesterday, on the coast of Port Adventure, about 20km southeast of Halfmoon Bay.
