Paramedics hurt as vehicle rolls

Three St John staff have been injured in a crash at the Silver Fern Rally in South Otago this afternoon.
One has been flown to Dunedin Hospital, while the other two were taken to a local medical centre, St John said in a statement.

``The car was not an ambulance and was not transporting patients,'' St John assistant director of operations Derek Liefting said.

``It was a car carrying a specialist St John motorsport medical team who were providing paramedic cover at the rally. There were three occupants in the car, and all sustained injuries.

``St John is supporting those involved in the incident and their families.

``St John has no further comment at the stage.''

The rally has run since the 1960s and takes place in Southland, Otago and Canterbury.
