Gore River Valley Lions project convener Margaret McDougall (left) discusses the merits of these family antiques with president Wendy Goodwin. The club is hosting its version of 'Antiques Roadshow'.
If you are a fan of the television show Antiques Roadshow then you will love the Gore River Valley Lions version of the show to be held in the town.

The club is busy selling tickets to its antiques roadshow, to be held on Sunday, August 16, at the James Cumming Wing between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

Project convener Margaret McDougall and president Wendy Goodwin are keen to encourage people to take advantage of the line-up of expertise that will be available on the day.

Clinton's Black Cottage owner Shawn Oliver, John Posthumus, of Benhar, Kevin Hayward, of Dunedin, and Jack Ricketts, of Gore, will give their opinion on antiques brought to the event.

People could either bring their collectables or just browse and listen while other people had appraisals carried out, Mrs McDougall said.

There will be collectors' displays, including antique tools, dolls, toys, bottles, genealogy, military memorabilia, matchbox cars, radios, dolls' houses and embroidery.

There will be a multi-draw raffle, with prizes including a Taieri Gorge train trip, accommodation at a hotel in Te Anau, a $50 voucher for the Moth Restaurant and grocery hampers.

• Entry costs $5. Entry plus one item assessed is $10 and entry with two items assessed, $15. Devonshire teas and light lunches will be available. For tickets, contact Yours Naturally, Irk St, Gore i-Site or phone 208-7307, 208-5450 or 208-7212.
