A new trust formed to fast-track an arts and performance centre in Wanaka is aiming to have it built and available to host Festival of Colour events in 2027.

Wanaka Community Board and Lake Wan-aka Arts and Culture Charitable Trust member Chris Hadfield confirmed the trust deed was signed on July 8 and members aspired to the opening date in time for the 2027 festival.

Trustees are Mr Hadfield, Michael Sidey (chairman), Allan Dippie, Alistair King, Kirsty Hazledine, Annis Somerville and Mark Verbiest. Trust patron is Prue Wallis.
