Three people suffered moderate injuries in a campervan crash outside Wānaka which blocked the highway in both directions.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were notified at 2pm of the two-car crash on the Wānaka-Luggate Highway, near the intersection with Ballantyne Rd.

A Hato Hone St John spokesman said two ambulances responded to the scene.

Paramedics assessed three people in a moderate condition.

A campervan could be seen lying on its side in a ditch on the side of State Highway 6.

The highway was fully reopened at 4.10pm, NZTA Waka Kotahi said.
