A woman was trapped but uninjured after the car she was driving left Domain Rd in Hawea Flat and hit a tree.
A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene at 11.50am and were still attending to the incident.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand had also been called as the woman was trapped in the vehicle.
It was believed the woman was uninjured, she said.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
