Proceeds from the event are to support Community Link’s 2026 Cold Kids campaign.
The three-day event, starting on March 20, welcomes players from across the country to participate in teams at the golf tournament which raises money for a selected local charity through donations, raffles and auctions.
Community Link general manager Kate Murray said being selected as the charity of choice was an honour.
"It is both an honour and an opportunity to highlight the real needs within the community," she said.
“Wānaka is often seen as a wealthy place, but many local families are living with very little financial buffer.
"The Cold Kids campaign helps ensure children can stay warm through winter, and support from events like the Hirepool Charity Golf Classic makes a genuine difference for whānau across the Upper Clutha,” she said.
Community Link is Upper Clutha’s one-stop community support and connection centre.
"Our vision is that everyone in the Upper Clutha has the opportunity to thrive," its website said.
Charity Golf Classic convener Marc Simmonds said the event was a great way for the charity to gain publicity for their cause.
"Community Link is a very deserving organisation.
"One thing that struck us was that everyone’s heard of meals on wheels and wheels to Dunstan, but very few people seemed to know about the organisation behind it all."
Mr Simmonds said the tournament was played in teams of four.
"You play with each one of your team members over the three days."
He said the tournament made more than $500,000 in charitable donations last year.
