Colliers Otago last month hosted a charity golf day at the Wānaka Golf Club in support of Mount Aspiring College.
The event brought together local businesses, clients, friends and supporters from across the Upper Clutha and beyond.
Colliers Otago Wānaka business manager Adam Gain said Colliers was extremely proud of the way the wider Wānaka community got in behind the event.
‘‘The generosity, support and sense of togetherness on the day really reflected what makes this region so special.
‘‘The college plays a vital role in the wellbeing and future of this region, and we’re honoured to support the work it does,’’ he said.
The event was designed to celebrate community connection while supporting a cause close to the hearts of many locals, Wānaka’s own high school and the young people who will shape the future of the region.
Mount Aspiring College principal Nicola Jacobsen said the impact of the donation would be significant.
‘‘I am pretty humbled by what Colliers have done for the college.
‘‘This is a very significant contribution when it comes to school funding, particularly at this time of year when budgets are being finalised and new emerging needs come to the forefront,’’ she said.
Funds donated from the event will be used across several areas that support student learning and wellbeing.
The school plans to use the funds for a student scholarship, to purchase of computers for students, to fund a teacher aide to support literacy and numeracy in year 7, and to ensure all students can participate in school camps.
‘‘These contributions will have a tangible and lasting impact on our students and staff.
‘‘Support like this strengthens our ability to provide the best possible learning environment and ensures more students can fully participate in school life,’’ she said.
