At the event, which involved five teams from across the South Island competing at the Wānaka Recreation Centre, the Wānaka team pressed the home advantage to narrowly take the win from last year’s champion, Gore.
Lam said the casual tournament had been a fun way to bring together players who would normally only see each other once a year at the official South Island tournament.
“Everyone had fun.
"Everyone really enjoyed the great facilities we have in Wānaka.
"I think that’s a really big item.”
The Wānaka Table Tennis Club meets every Tuesday between 6pm-8pm at Paetara Aspiring Central and every Sunday from 3pm-5pm at the Wānaka Recreation Centre.
Entry is $5 and equipment is provided.
