Wānaka rock band Powder Chutes released its new single, Merchants, yesterday ahead of their keenly anticipated debut album.
The band’s media release describes the group’s latest single as "a snarling adrenaline-fuelled rock anthem" with wide cross-genre appeal and "a massive vocal hook".
Flash-trax reviewer Jack Grabham has predicted it would be "a sure-fire top10" hit with mainstream rock and metal radio channels, and would attract an overseas audience too.
Merchants was recorded and mixed at North Otago’s Studio Sublime with Steve Harrop and Tom Havard and mastered by KOG Studios’ Chris Chetland.

The single has attracted the attention of Wanaka cinematographer Joe Murdie, of Bunker Street Film Co.
He features the song as the end credit theme to his forthcoming motion picture Planet 13.
Powder Chutes performs original rock music and has been described by NZ Musician magazine as having "a modern grunge feel, mixed with punk angst and hard rock".
The band members and former Mount Aspiring College school friends are Archie Orbell (drums), Clarke West (guitar), Henry McConnell (vocals), and Otis Murphy (bass).
