Prime Minister Bill English was on edge during his visit to Wanaka this weekend.

More precisely he was on the edge of local tourism attraction the waterfall climb at Wildwire Wanaka.

Wildfire Wanaka director Mark Morrison said Mr English enjoyed a short tour and demonstration of the activity and was given an opportunity to get a feel for the actual climbing, "an opportunity he took to with enthusiasm".

Lake Wanaka Tourism General Manager, James Helmore, who accompanied the Prime Minister, said the visit was another boost for the area, which was already experiencing major increases year on year in visitor numbers.

Mr English was in Wanaka to attend the 80th Wanaka A&P Show.
