Waverley Bowling Club pairs have continued the winning fortunes of the club this season.
At the weekend, club members Pam Calder and Maree Jones won the Bowls Southland open women’s title, Julie Erskine and Donna Kelly, the development women’s and Terry Best and Paul Brooks the men’s development title.
Club president Paul Brooks said the club was having a ‘‘stellar year’’ so far winning 10 Southland titles.
‘‘Once again our open women are very strong this year winning the sevens, fours, triples and pairs, and having a runner up in the singles.’’
He was especially proud of the development teams that had won six titles between them.
‘‘They are our future open players and put the club in good stead for the future.’’
Calder who claimed her 33rd title and Jones her 12th title, won a tightly fought match over North End’s Tina Johansen and Raewyn Leith, eventually taking the match 18-14.
In the development women’s final, Kelly won her third title and Erskine her second. They were victorious 21-14 over Otatara players’ Cherie Meulenbroek and Jane Carroll.
The men’s development final was an all-Waverley affair.
Best, achieving his first title and Brooks his second prevailed 24-11 over Harlyn Macdonald and Barry Williams.
The men’s pairs post-section games will be played on March 29.
