Person killed in collision

One person has died after a two-car collision at the intersection of Kew Rd and State Highway 1 about 6am yesterday.

Police confirmed that one occupant died at the scene and there were no other injuries.

It is believed a car was turning into State Highway 1 from Kew Rd and collided with a car on the state highway.

State Highway 1 remained closed for an extended period from the Elles Rd-Bluff Highway roundabout to Elizabeth St and the lower section of Kew Rd while the serious crash unit examined the scene.

State Highway 1 reopened early yesterday afternoon.
