Like Mary, Mandy has a little lamb that follows her everywhere, but it is hard to know if Mary has a lovely winning red ribbon like Mandy and her lamb.

Mandy Corby, 3, and Lucy the lamb won the under-8-year-old pet lamb competition at the Wyndham A&P Show on Saturday.

Mandy’s grandfather, Alister McLean, said Mandy was very pleased she and her lamb won the red ribbon.

"She thought it was just marvellous."

The ribbon was hanging on her bedroom wall.

"She admires it each day."

Mr McLean and Mandy were out on an early morning lambing beat, when they saw Lucy sitting beside her mother, who was lying lifeless in the paddock.

"I picked [Lucy] up and put her in the side-by-side and Mandy cuddled it and they were mates ever since.

"She’s loved that lamb from day 1.

"Everywhere Mandy went the lamb went, right from when it was wee."

When Lucy was out in the paddock beside the house with the sheep she ignored other voices nearby until she heard Mandy’s voice.

"As soon as Mandy yells out ‘Lucy’, it’s straight up to the fence."
