Belarusian Ostapchuk stood on the top step of the podium 12 months ago but was later stripped of Olympic gold after testing positive for anabolic steroids.
Adams was then elevated to first place after initially being awarded the silver medal.
The 28-year-old won the women's shot put at the Diamond League Anniversary Games with a the year's best throw of 20.90 metres.
Each of her six efforts sailed past the 20m mark.
"It's great to be here," Adams told AAP after her win.
"It is almost like closing a chapter for me. It's great to enjoy the glory and the moment.
"Even though it's not the same (as the Olympics) it's great to do it. Now I can let it sleep and move on."
The dual Olympic and triple world champion has now won an incredible 38 competitions in a row.
She'll head to next month's world championships in Moscow in great shape.
Earlier this week Adams was asked how she felt towards Ostapchuk a year on.
The New Zealander didn't hold back saying she was "really, really angry towards her".
"I was quite sad and depressed," the athlete said.
"A lot of emotions went through me but I think one thing is I never forgave her and I never will.
"She's tainted the sport, she's tainted our event and it's something she shouldn't have done."
