Athletics: Adams wraps up Diamond League

Shot Putter Valerie Adams has wrapped up the Diamond League with a dominant display in her final event in front of a capacity crowd at Zurich's main train station.

Adams set a new meeting record with a throw of 20.81m - the previous best of 20.63m was set in 2010 by disgraced former rival Nadezhda Ostapchuk - and dominated from the first round. She eventually won by more than 1.5m to win the Diamond race trophy in consecutive years.

Her victory also extended her unbeaten streak to 29, currently the longest by a woman in athletics and not far behind the mark of 32 set by German discus thrower Robert Harting.

American Michelle Carter was second with a best of 19.25m and Trinidad and Tobago's Cleopatra Borel was third with 18.66.

Details of when Adams will receive her gold from the London Olympics have not been finalised - initial winner Ostapchuk failed a drugs test - but the shot putter has said she wanted the ceremony to be in New Zealand.
