Robinson won her third New Zealand senior women's title at the New Zealand championships in 14min 09.92sec. It was her best time of the season.
She was followed home by Kate Newitt (Canterbury) in 14min 29.66sec and Lesley Cantwell (Southland) in 14min 35.40sec.
''I'm happy with that time,'' Robinson said from Auckland.
''In a championship race you go out to win and not for a personal-best.
''It was a hard race and it was good to come out on top.''
Robinson led from the start but Newitt was on her heels for the first 2km.
The pressure became too much for Newitt as Robinson sped up over the last kilometre. With two laps to go she led by 100m.
The four-year reign of Otago's Marshall Hall came to an end when he finished third in the senior men's discus with a throw of 47.75m. He was beaten by Canterbury throwers Tom Walsh (50.27m) and Hayden Hall (49.53m).
Marshall Hall, who now lives in Auckland, has been troubled by an injured shoulder and has not fully recovered from a recent operation.
Blair Grant won a silver medal in the men's 20 100m in 11.57sec behind Terry Collins-Hawkins (Wellington) who ran 11.45sec. Otago sprinters Daniel O'Shea and Andrew Whyte qualified in the two top spots for the final of the men's 400m when they both won their heats.
