Alexandra started well and was up 7-0 after four ends. Phoenix then fought back and reduced the gap to 8-4 after seven of the 15 ends.
The eighth end was decisive as Alexandra drew six shots to lead 14-4.
Alexandra played conservative and no-risk bowls after this to consolidate its lead.
The Geraldine team of Dennis Johnstone, Rickie Ross, Dan Rooney and Steve Jones remained unbeaten and won the men's four.
Geraldine won with seven points (differential plus 31) from Fairfield seven (plus 16), Alexandra four, North End (Southland) zero (minus 14) and South Otago team Stirling zero (minus 36).
Geraldine and Fairfield remained unbeaten but the South Canterbury team had a better differential.
Geraldine beat North End (Southland) 15-9, Stirling (South Otago) 22-7, Alexandra 19-9 and drew with Fairfield 12-12.
Geraldine had to win its final game against Alexandra to advance to the national final. It was tight early with Geraldine holding a narrow 4-3 lead after six of the 15 ends. The seventh end was decisive as Geraldine drew four shots to lead 8-3. Alexandra skip Trevor Drake missed his two drives.
The competition for zone six spots in the national final continues today with the first of two days of singles at the Taieri greens.
