He has been teamed with the experienced Garry Flewitt, who has won a record 31 Otago provincial titles.
Gould (20) won the New Zealand under-18 singles title in Christchurch in 2006, the same year he captained the South Island age-group team to victory in the inter-island event.
At 12 he became the youngest bowler to win an Otago title when he was a member of the Brockville club four skipped by his father, Trevor, who has represented New Zealand and won 18 Otago titles.
The Brockville club was founded by Gould's's grandfather, George Gould, 42 years ago and indoor bowls has been the family sport since then.
His grandfather, grandmother (Heather), mother (Allison), aunt (Sandra), uncle (Hughan) and brother Steven (18) have all represented Otago.
Steven is a member of the Otago four for the match against the North Island.
The match is the first of the North Island team's South Island tour.
The North Island also plays the combined North Otago-South Canterbury team in Oamaru, and the tour will finish with the annual inter-island game at Christchurch.
These fixtures have been dominated by the North Island, which has won 18 times, while the South Island has won 10.
Otago players selected in the South Island team are Marilyn Holmes (women's singles), Daniel French and Mathew Begg (Central Otago) in the men's fours.
Mark Jacombs is a reserve.
The match starts at 11am at the Otago Indoor Bowls room at the Dunedin Ice Stadium tomorrow.
