The Otago Volts have beaten the Canterbury Wizards by 12 runs in their Ford Trophy preliminary final at Dunedin's University Oval today.
Batting first, the Volts could only muster 172 before being dismissed in 38.5 overs.
However, the Wizards made hard work of the chase and were dismissed for 160 in 45.3 overs.
The Volts will now play the loser of the other preliminary final between top qualifiers the Central Stags and the Auckland Aces for a spot in the final.
