It is Kaikorai's turn. It has a chance to reach the national club finals if it beats Invercargill Metro at Bishopscourt tomorrow.

A rejuvenated Kaikorai team won a place in the 50-over regional final when it beat Otago Boys' High School First XI in the quarterfinal, and University-Grange in the semifinal.

There are 30 clubs in the Otago-Southland region and 11 teams entered the knockout competition.

All clubs registered with New Zealand Cricket have the opportunity to enter the elimination rounds.

Invercargill Metro reached the regional finals when it beat Invercargill Old Boys.

The key players in the Kaikorai team are hard-hitting batsman and offspin bowler Iain Robertson, legspinner Tim Muir and medium-pace right-arm bowler Will Deerness.

The best players in the Invercargill Metro team are pace bowler Mark Beer and top-order batsman Ryan Duffy.

The 50-over games for the club competition do not use the Duckworth-Lewis system for rain interruptions.

Taieri represented the region last year and the other recent finalist was University-Grange.
