North East Valley 163/8 beat Albion 100 by 63 runs

Thorn Parkes is primed and ready for another crack with the Otago Volts.

The talented youngster has scored three half-centuries in his five first-class games, and has also made four T20 appearances, and while it will be hard to break back into a Volts XI that has struck good form, his efforts on Saturday might deserve some reward.

Parkes thrashed a dazzling century to lead his North East Valley side to a big T20 win over Albion at Tonga Park.

The left-hander belted 100 not out off just 58 balls, including six fours and five sixes as he took the sword to almost all of the Albion bowlers.

He did not get a lot of support, however, as Hunter Kindley’s 16 was the next highest score in the innings of 163 for eight.

Ollie Ritchie (two for 20 off four) and Josh Tasman-Jones (two for 29 off four) were the pick of the Albion bowlers.

In reply, the Eagles got starts from Tim Ford (26) and Tasman-Jones (19) but never really looked like threatening the target, and they crumbled for 100 in the 17th over.

Volts squad player Jarrod McKay led the Valley attack with three for seven off 2.5 overs, and Jeremy Smith had two for nine off two.

Green Island 186/4 beat University-Grange 152 by 34 runs

Elliot Santner continued his useful season with a sparkling innings at Logan Park.

Santner thumped 73 off 48 balls (six fours, three sixes) to power Green Island to 186 for four.

Brad Kneebone had given the innings an early boost with his 59 off 38 balls (seven fours, two sixes), before Santner and Jed Mockford (43 not out off 26) put on 105 runs for the fourth wicket.

Jacob Cumming (35 off 25) and Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith (26 off 17) gave the University-Grange reply a good start, but only Shiv Achary (22 off 16) could do much lower in the order, as the innings ended on 152 with two balls left.

Joel Meade paced the Green Island attack with three for 28, and both Mockford and brother Jack took two wickets.

Taieri 134 lost to CDK 138/5 by five wickets

Charles Hendry and Jack Pryde got the job done just in time for CDK at Brooklands.

Chasing 135 for victory, the Hounds took it nearly all the way, hitting the winning runs off the penultimate ball of the game.

Hendry had started the chase well with 42 off 27 balls (seven fours, one six), adding 72 for the first wicket with Xavier Chisholm (28 off 26).

The innings faltered with two quick ducks before Pryde took over with an unbeaten 44 off 32 balls (seven fours).

Beckham Wheeler-Greenall was the best of the Taieri bowlers with three for 12 off four good overs.

Earlier, both Patrick Arnold and Mason James had taken two wickets for CDK as the home side batted out its 20 overs but struggled to score at a really good clip.

Ollie Shore scored 38 off as many balls, and both Wheeler-Greenall and Dwayne Weir scored 23.
