World women's individual pursuit champion Alison Shanks has decided against contesting the time trial at next month's road cycling world championships in Switzerland.
Currently training in the United States, Shanks said she had a big track season ahead with the Oceania championships at Invercargill in November followed by the World Cup season, next year's track world championships (March) and October's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
"Basically it was just a change of plans, no injuries or illness, the body is in good nick," Shanks said.
She will head home to Otago next month.
