The Ricoh-sponsored two-day tour over the weekend proved the highlight in the junior racing calendar, with riders from Otago and as far as Timaru congregating for some fierce racing over all grades.
There were crashes in the first two stages, and racing came to an abrupt end for Andy Vanderhaden and Emma Sutherland, who were both taken to hospital.
Alex McGregor made a grand start to his weekend of racing in the under-19 grade by blitzing the field in Stage 1 when he gained 10min on his fellow competitors. McGregor went on to win his grade decisively by Stage 4 on Sunday.
Patrick Williamson was second and Logan Edgar third.
Sarah Martin was the only rider in the women's under-19 category and recorded a pleasing 8:10 in the time trial.
Brad Evans had a good tour, winning the under-17 boys grade. Brehan Cairns was second and Troy Smith third.
There were some very close finishes in all four stages of this grade.
Patrick Jones, recently entered in the grade, rode well to finish sixth overall.
Charlotte Kelly won the under-17 girls grade with Sharna Seaton second and Kim Harris third. After his big win in last weekend's race, Fred Brooks won the under-15 grade ahead of Ashley Stanley and Sam Kelly. Amy Pearce was first overall in the under-15 grade winning all stages decisively.
Alysha Keith was second and Jennifer Muhl third.
Logan Black was first of a field of 12 riders in the novice grade.
Baily Koppert-Duggan was second and Kyle Tarlton third.
Caitlin Kelly was the first girl in the field and seventh overall.
