New Zealand golfers Josh Carmichael and Richard Lee have made solid starts in the final qualifying school event for next year's Japan Golf Tour.
They both shot 2-under par rounds of 70 at the Central Golf Club in Higashi to be tied for 36th place after the opening round, while Eddie Lee shot 73 to be in 116th place in their six-round event.
There will be a cut after four rounds with the top 90 players and ties progressing to the final rounds.
