The Otago women's golf team is on the board after beating Tasman in the sixth round of the Toro women's interprovincial on the Muriwai course in Auckland yesterday afternoon.
Otago entered the day winless with no points and five games and could do little to rectify the situation, as the team had a bye in the morning.
But in the afternoon the team responded well beating cellar-dweller Tasman by an emphatic 4-1 margin.
At No 1 Laura Hoskin was dominant over Emily Stenhouse to record her third win for the week.
Hoskin turned four up on Stenhouse, who had little answer to the Arrowtown golfer's sub-par play and Hoskin was three under par when the match finished on the 13th green.
Unfortunately South Otago schoolgirl Abby Crawford did not manage to gain her first win and turned four behind Tasman No 2 Michel E. Rearden.
Crawford trailed by five after twelve holes but won 13 and 14 and then halved 16 to stage a fight back.
However, it was too little too late and the match finished on the 16th green when Crawford failed to make a par.
Susan Greig (No 3) lost the second hole to go one down but took control, winning five of the next seven holes to dominate Lesley Baxter.
She turned four up, won the 10th with a birdie and the 13th to finish the match.
Otago No 4 Sally Shaw had her first interprovincial win in style, requiring only 14 holes to account for Sue Murray.
Shaw turned three up and hit home her advantage winning the 11th and then the 12th with a birdie.
Wanaka veteran Liz McRae had her first win for the week beating Kathryn Maloney on the final green.
McRae turned one ahead but trailed after losing the first two holes on the homeward nine.
The pair halved the next five holes but McRae won the final two holes for a one up win.
Otago will have another opportunity to improve its points and games tally when it meets Taranaki in the final round of section play this morning.
