New Zealand professional Troy Ropiha has a three-shot lead heading into today's final round of the Taranaki Open golf tournament in New Plymouth.

Ropiha made the most of his advantage -- he called the New Plymouth Links home for most of his amateur career -- to fire a second successive score in the 60s to lead by three shots from Jordan Dasler.

Ropiha backed up a first round 69 with a 68 today to be seven under par in the Charles Tour event, with Dasler at four under and Michael Hendry poised for a final round surge, lying third at three under.

Andrew Green had the equal-best round of the day with his 67 a big improvement on his first round 75, while Hamilton's Mathew Perry holds top amateur spot with scores of 72 and 70.

The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes after Thursday's scheduled first round was washed out.
