Netball: University-Albion extended in win

University-Albion A faced its biggest challenge yet when it pipped an in-form Southern A side 59-58 in the premier club match played at the Edgar Centre on Saturday.

Southern put up more attempts on goal - 76 to Albion's 69 - but the shooting accuracy of Albion proved the difference.

In the first quarter, Albion quickly took control of the match and looked to have the dominance needed to take the win. It led 18-11 at the quarter break.

However, Southern regrouped at the break and closed the gap to 30-29 at halftime.

Southern's accurate shooting in the third quarter resulted in a 45-43 lead going into the final 15 minutes.

In an exciting finish, both teams worked equally hard. Just when one looked in control, the other would knuckle down and close the gap.

In the end, it was Albion's experience which enabled it to hold the pressure and take the match.

College A claimed another win, beating Phys Ed A 45-33. After a couple of seasons of rebuilding, College can finally say it is back on the netball stage.

In the remaining premier match, Phys Ed B easily beat Southern B, 60-36.
