Almost 300 jiu jitsu martial art competitors from throughout New Zealand took part in the New Zealand Grappler Southern Series held in Dunedin today.
Ninety-four of the 280 competitors were from Otago and Southland. Ten came from the North Island. The competition had gi and no-gi divisions across a full range of age and weight classes.
Tournament points from matches count towards competitors' national rankings in the growing sport.
