Margaret Taylor, of Waldronville, was yesterday the 5000th person to register for the New Zealand Masters Games to be held in Dunedin from Saturday.

The human resources worker will compete in multi-discipline events the Twilight 400 and the Sport Accuracy Challenge, in her first Masters Games.

Her friends had participated before, and it seemed like it would be fun, she said.

Games manager Vicki Kestila said about 5200 people had registered for the games and she was confident the target of 5500 participants would be reached.
