It was one-way traffic in intercity softball games at the weekend as Southland teams completely dominated their Dunedin counterparts.
Southland clubs won five of the six cross-border clashes at Ellis Park.
The tournament was won, in some style, by Invercargill's Demons club, which boasted a powerful batting line-up.
One of the stars of the day was former Highlanders fullback James Wilson, who showed his ability on the diamond with two home runs in a 9-1 win over Dunedin's Dodgers, a home run and a 4-from-4 batting performance in an 11-0 thrashing of Ellis Park, and another long blast in the 7-1 win over Invercargill's Dodgers in the final.
The Demons also boasted the talented Telfer brothers, Matt and Chris, whose sister, Wendy Frew, is the Silver Ferns and Steel mid-courter.
Matt Telfer was named the top batter at the tournament and team-mate Shaun Coombe was top pitcher for a second year in a row.
The family connection continued with the presence of Frew's husband, Trent, who whacked a home run in a 10-2 win against Dunedin's Saints.
The highlight for Dunedin clubs was Ellis Park's 10-5 over the Dodgers Masters on Sunday.
Ryan Williams, in his first year of premier softball, hit a home run over the centrefield fence for the home side.
