Surfing: Hareb through to quarterfinals in Portugal

New Zealander Paige Hareb is through to the quarterfinals of the ASP surfing women's tour event in Peniche, Portugal.

Hareb will meet Australian triple world champion Stephanie Gilmore after easing through the opening rounds overnight (NZT).

Hareb finished second on 10.83 to Australian Chelsea Hedges' 12.00 in the first round, then accounted for another Australian, Rebecca Woods, 11.50 to 8.60 in the third round to seal a quarterfinal spot.
