Swimming: High performance coach leaves NZ national body

Scott Talbot, one of Swimming New Zealand's three high performance coaches, is to take up a new role in Australia.

Talbot will begin a new position created by New South Wales Institute of Swimming and Sydney University starting in January.

Swimming New Zealand acting chief executive Mark O'Connor said he was disappointed to lose Talbot but wished him well.

"Scott was a fine Olympian in the pool for New Zealand and moved immediately into coaching and ultimately into Swimming New Zealand's High Performance Centre," said O'Connor.

"Scott is young for an international coach and the opportunity to develop his skillset with an overseas role will no doubt benefit his growth as a swim coach."

Talbot, a former national backstroke record-holder, was an Olympian at Athens and Sydney.
