
The 3yr-old turned race 5 into a one-horse race when she and driver Brent Barclay powered away from their rivals in a smart 2.42.3 time for 2200m.
Simpson’s wraps on his filly meant he expected better from her on debut when she met a smart bunch of fillies at Wyndham earlier this month.
Nikasa was not at her best on debut, but she was clearly 100% when she handed out her seven-and-three-quarter length thrashing last night.
"I have always thought a lot of her and that is what I thought she could do," Simpson said.
Nikasa’s sixth placing on debut did give her one of two required runs she needs for Southland Oaks qualification.
Simpson plans on giving her another in the immediate future to boost her chances of making the group 2 feature.
Nikasa’s stablemate and full brother Parama faced an impossible task when settling well off a hectic pace in race 3.
The 2200m event was won by Bella Sara for trainers Kirstin Barclay and Paul Ellis and driver Blair Orange in a sizzling 2.41.6 time.
Mataura trotter Crusher Collins was also a good winner at last night’s meeting. The Lyndon Bond-trained 6yr-old overcame an early gallop to win race 4.
