A bid for bragging rights is on offer on Champions Day at Wingatui on February 1.
The Otago Racing Club is holding a punter of the year competition after last year's contest proved a winner, club chief executive Andre Klein said.
''There were about 20 different teams, and a dozen individuals - it was pretty competitive,'' Klein said.
''You don't have to be an expert to win. There's still a lot of luck involved.
''It's a bit of entertainment for people, regardless of whether they are big punters or not.''
Teams will need to start with $400 and bet $100 a race from race 3 until race 6.
Individuals start with a pool of $200 and must bet $50 a race until race 6.
Klein said punters who signed up with the club by next Thursday will get free admission in to the races.
The individual winner will get a trip to the Auckland Cup for one in March, while the winners of the team category will win a night out at Dunedin Casino with hospitality and betting vouchers.
