Eye To Eye credited Great Success with his first New Zealand siring success at Winton yesterday.
Great Success, who won six races as a trotter and recorded 1.51.4 in a time trial in the United States, has sired winners in Australia.
The 3yr-old Eye To Eye, from the first crop of Great Success, was a $4500 purchase by Allan and Fiona Clark at the 2011 Australasian Classic yearling sale.
He is out of Arnees Angel, the dam of other winners Illuminati, Arnees Sovereign and Change Of Mind from four foals to race.
Zest Philly, who finished boldly from back in the field to win over a mile, was a $25,000 purchase at the 2009 premier yearling sale. The daughter of Christian Cullen was having her second start from the Westwood stable of Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman. She had a second in seven starts last season when trained by Gavin Smith.
Sonatina and Bid Spotter were other yearling sale purchases to win yesterday.
Trainer Cran Dalgety paid $30,000 for Sonatina at the 2011 premier sale. Sonatina, the 3yr-old filly having her first start, is a half-sister by Art Major to One Dream, winner of seven group one races, including the New Zealand Oaks, Australian Oaks, Australasian Breeders Crown and Sires' Stakes Finals at 2 and 3. Sonatina is raced by Chrissy Dalgety and Solid Gold Standarbreds.
Bid Spotter was a $27,000 purchase at the 2009 premier sale. The 5yr-old is raced by the Jay Tee syndicate, who share the ownership of Johnny Fox, a winner yesterday. Both horses were driven by Allan Beck.
It was the third win for Johnny Fox. Ian Wilson, a member of the syndicate, is the trainer of Johnny Fox.
Dalgety also won yesterday with Donegal Starella, a 3yr-old filly having her second start.
She is raced by Kaikoura breeder Murray Boyd.
