The Forbury Park Trotting Club meeting scheduled for Friday has been abandoned due to insufficient nominations.
Nominations closed yesterday afternoon with 74 horses nominated.
Despite trainers being given more time, only one more nomination came in, the club's general manager, Zelda Jordan, said.
Five races ''at best'' could have been scheduled.
The battle to get horses to Dunedin was made harder this week, as a Rangiora Harness Racing Club meeting at Addington on Thursday night was also light on numbers. Only 95 nominations had been received yesterday, and nominations were extended until 10am today.
A Timaru Harness Racing Club meeting at Timaru on Sunday added to the options available for Canterbury trainers who might normally bring a horse to Forbury Park.
