Eian Lamb will be on morning tea duties at Tomahawk later this week after Feather Boyz downed Space Ace to win the c1 trot over 2700m.

Space Ace is trained by Ali Malcolmson, who also prepares his team at Tomahawk.

Feather Boyz had won just once in 26 starts prior to last night's win by a neck.

However, his two seconds and five thirds had been backed up by a cluster of fourths and fifths, and last night was his night thanks to a canny drive from Brent Barclay.

''He's been very consistent and he deserves it too,'' Lamb said.

''He deserved it last week [when he finished fifth behind Alexandra Leaving] but the field was tougher and he just wasn't good enough.''

Feather Boyz is likely to have a road trip to Southland in two weeks as Lamb tries something new.''

We were looking at going down to Winton on the 29th and we'll still probably go down there.

''He's never been anywhere but on the wee tracks but we'll go on a bigger one and see if that suits him.''

Feather Boyz's owner, Eric Dasler, was on course to see the gelding's second win, while Cullen Keefe's owners arrived in New Zealand just in time to watch their Christian Cullen entire maintain his unbeaten record.

Sam and Nancy Taylor arrived from London, in Ontario, Canada, yesterday and are going to be on course at Ashburton when the horse lines up again on Boxing Day, his trainer, Laurence Hanrahan, said.

''They will be sitting at the Brown Pub [in Methven] watching it,'' he said.

Cullen Keefe had two starts for two wins in June, and Hanrahan said the two starts were enough once the then 3yr-old collected a penalty free win.

''If you went for another one, you had to try and get another [win].

''I thought I'd put him out and I promised Kimberly [Butt] one day that I'd give her a drive.''

That promise was realised last night, although Butt admitted to some nervous moments as she waited for the passing lane run behind Music.

''He's a really nice horse - he's had to do a lot of work during the running and he just kept going,'' she said.

''It's his first run back and he hasn't raced in six months but Laurence has done a great job with him. He's aimed him for this and had him ready.''

The Taylors have raced several horses with Hanrahan, including Kid Galahad (7 wins), who Sam Taylor now trains in Canada.

They also own Bute Courage, who will also be aimed at Ashburton's Boxing Day meeting.

Butt was successful with Rockin Cullen in the $10,000 sprint series final. The mare had her last start last night, as she is in foal to Bettor's Delight.

Ray Reekie had to wait almost a month for his belated birthday present but it was worth it when King Cyril won the claimers' mobile pace.

Reekie and fellow amateur driver Gavin Bull claimed the Mach Three gelding after it won at Rangiora on November 6.

Reekie entered the 5yr-old for an amateur drivers' race at Forbury Park on November 20 - his birthday - but the race attracted only six nominations.
