The weights had already worked in the O'Reilly mare's favour, as her main rival in the $70,000 listed South Island Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes, Platinum Princess, had to carry 58kg.
The performance of The Solitaire, who carried 55.5kg, matched the expectation of punters who installed her as favourite. She won by 1 lengths from Platinum Princess.
The one hitch was the 5yr-old's wide draw, but after scratchings she was able to get in slightly closer. However, jockey Chris Johnson still had some work to do, and looked for places to slot in before settling at the back - a spot Anderton was not too worried about.
''With that draw, he was never going to get handier, because he would have been caught the three-wide the whole way,'' Anderton said.
''She actually picked them up fairly quickly. She was really travelling and she got there quite easy.
''Halfway down the straight, he hadn't let her go, and the others were scrubbing up.''
Anderton had The Solitaire back home and eating up well by Saturday night. Return trips to Canterbury could be on the cards, he said.
The Solitaire's demeanour and enthusiasm over the coming days will decide her next assignment. The listed Easter Cup at Riccarton on April 6 is a possibility, but Anderton expects she will be up in the weights for the 1600m task.
''If it's knocked her a wee bit, we might just leave her and go straight to the Canterbury Gold Cup [on April 20 at Riccarton],'' he said.
Regardless of whether she has two runs in the next month or just one, the Gold Cup is likely to be her last for the season as Anderton feels she is better on top of the ground.
Apprentice jockey Brittany Pitman will miss the first two southern riding days in April after she was found guilty of careless riding on Miss Maximuss, who finished third behind The Solitaire.
Pitman directed Miss Maximuss outwards with 250m to go when not sufficiently clear of Bremusa, who was subsequently checked. Pitman will miss the second day of the Riverton meeting on April 1, and the Riccarton meeting on April 6.
