Prebbleton horseman Michael House, who operates both South and North Island stables, finished 2025 second in the trainers’ premiership with a personal best 111 wins behind the record-breaking Steve and Amanda Telfer (171) while son Wilson House claimed his first junior drivers’ premiership with 94 wins, three ahead of Carter Dalgety.
Now there has been further success already in 2026, in both islands.
At the Central Otago Trotting Club’s huge meeting at Omakau yesterday, House showed his skills in the sulky by winning the first in the amateur drivers’ race with the Mark Jones-trained Bettor Way.
Earlier in the programme Koko Kaboom won the opener at the Wairarapa Harness Racing Club meeting.
Both were driven by junior Kate Coppins who had an exceptional day.
As well as her two wins she had two seconds, also with House-trained runners, in Big Gee and Million Dollar Chic.
