
These performances were good enough for Bond to be named as Otago Rower of the Year at the awards function in Dunedin last night.
Bond (23) showed his domestic fans why he is an elite international oarsmen by winning the coxless pair, coxless four, quadruple sculls and the eight. He has now won eight red coats.
Bond, who won a world title in the coxless four in 2007, will link with Eric Murray in the coxless pair at this year's world championships in Poland.
In World Cup events last year, Bond's four was fifth in Poznan and sixth in Lucerne. They were seventh at the Olympic Games.
The St Kevins College crew of Eilee Robinson, Johannah Kearney, Caitlan Kearney, Loren Haggerty, Kerry Bryant, Bethany Robertson, Lucy Fauth, Brittany More and cox Georgia Tangney was named the crew of the year for winning the under-15 eight at the Maadi Cup at Lake Karapiro.
Johannah Kearney was named the secondary schools female rower of the year for this performance and for winning the silver medal in the under-15 double sculls with sister Caitlan.
St Kevins coach Owen Gould was named Coach of the Year. He also coached the crews from Waitaki Boys and Waitaki Girls that rowed in the Oamaru club colours at other regattas.
Gould was responsible for the land training of all the crews at the Oamaru club.
Robert Mears (Otago Boys) was named the Otago male secondary school rower of the year for being stroke of the Otago provincial coxless four that won the inter-provincial regatta in Wanganui last winter.
Aynsley Moore (University) was named the Otago Cox of the Year for the efforts of the women's crew that won a silver medal in the club coxed four at the New Zealand championships on Lake Ruataniwha .
She was also cox of the New Zealand University women's eight that beat Australia 3-0 in the university test in Sydney last July.
The other awards were: novice crew, Port United double sculls (Finn Campbell, Stephen Campbell); administrator, Faye Forgie (Port United); masters rower, Tim Gardner (Otago).
The guest speaker was world champion cyclist Alison Shanks.
