Old Boys will play Valley in the North Otago premier club rugby final next Saturday.

Old Boys, chasing its sixth Citizens Shield in seven seasons, progressed to the final after an entertaining 43-34 win over an enterprising Kurow side in the semifinal in Oamaru today.

Kurow started with a bang, leading 17-0 after just 12 minutes, but Old Boys scored two late tries in the first half to make it 24-19 to Kurow at halftime.

Old Boys started to find space in the second half and scored three tries in 14 minutes to take charge, though Kurow never stopped fighting, and still had a chance to win the game until a very late Old Boys penalty.

At Weston, Valley and Excelsior battled to a standstill before Valley clinched a 21-20 win.
