Shoppers at a supermarket in Roslyn were surprised to find All Blacks manning the checkouts yesterday.

All Black forwards Tony Woodcock, Sam Whitelock and Wyatt Crockett were shown around the Fresh Choice supermarket and shared morning tea with staff, before learning some tricks of the trade, such as serving at the checkouts.

Supermarket checkout supervisor Amy Keenan said burly prop Crockett could have a future behind the counter.

"He's really good. He's learning quickly and he's very polite. He could definitely get a job here," she said. "But I think rugby probably pays better."

It was a visit to the supermarket to remember for brothers Liam (8) and Flynn (7) Connolly, who got autographs and photographs with the players.

"I wanted to come and see them because they're really cool. They're the best at rugby in the world," Flynn said. "They're my heroes. I like Richie McCaw the best, because he's a great rugby player," Liam added.

Lock Whitelock said the players always enjoyed getting out in the community and meeting fans.

"It's awesome to see all these young guys, and older guys as well. I remember being that young and everyone wanted to be an All Black. It's great to see that's still alive."
