"I am really stoked to have re-signed with NZRU and the Chiefs until 2014. It was an easy decision for me, as I am really enjoying my footy in New Zealand and looking forward to the challenges that the next few years will bring,'' the 23-year-old said.
Chiefs Coach Dave Rennie added: "It is great news for all New Zealand fans and in particular the Chiefs fans. Aaron is an integral part of this franchise going forward and epitomises everything we want in our Chiefs players. It is fantastic that he has made a commitment to us long term.''
NZRU chief executive Steve Tew said Cruden was an impressive young professional who had grown considerably - both on the field and off - since breaking onto the provincial scene in 2008.
"He is an outstanding young man and really exemplifies what a young rugby player should be and we are delighted that he has re-committed himself to New Zealand rugby.''
