But when Taieri first five eighth Josh Casey has time to reflect, and has recovered from his side's 31-15 loss to University, he should be filled with pride.
The 21 year old has been playing in the position for only two years and has had a incredible season, scoring 300 points.
He brought the milestone up with a conversion in the final. To put his tally into perspective, the previous highest recorded season tally in Dunedin premier rugby was 260 points, which was achieved by Dunedin's Daniel Soper in 1997.
Casey smashed the record. He also finished the season as the joint leading try scorer (16 tries) with University A star Matt Faddes.
None of that meant very much to him. He was still cloaked in disappointment when approached for comment by the Otago Daily Times.
''Obviously, this was not the way I wanted to finish the season, mate,'' Casey said.
''It is my second year at first five so each week I'm just trying to get better and better. The more I play in the position, the more I understand the position.
''But today was just one of those days. It felt like we were on the back foot a lot.
''At the start of the second round, they [University A] didn't even look like making the [playoffs] and now they are the champions.
''When they scored their second try, the boys were heaving behind the posts and that was a wee bit worrying. I just think they played so quick and we just couldn't match their pace.''
