Otago leads one grade and has an outside chance in another going into the final day of the South Island Primary Schools tournament in Dunedin today.

In games yesterday in the under-48kg grade, Otago had a 34-13 win over South Canterbury, Southland beat Canterbury Country 15-5 and Canterbury Metro beat North Otago 73-5.

Those results left Otago top of the table on 16 points, with Canterbury Metro just behind on 14 points.

These teams clash today at 10am at Carisbrook in a winner-take-all clash.

In the under-65kg grade, Otago beat South Canterbury 17-5, while Canterbury Country beat Southland 24-12.

Canterbury Metro beat North Otago 87-0 in the other match.

Canterbury Metro leads the table on the maximum 20 points and plays Otago at Carisbrook at 11.30am today.

Otago will have to win well, deny Canterbury Metro a bonus point and hope Canterbury Country loses to North Otagoat Bathgate Park.

Southland will take on South Canterbury in the other match today.
