Upsets were the order of the day in Dunedin club rugby today with two of the top teams knocked off their perch.

The accurate goal kicking of Tim Cossens helped Pirates to beat Southern 22-19 at Hancock Park. He kicked five goals and scored 14 points.

Top of the table Taieri lost its second game in three days when downed by University A 32-22.

Taieri led 15-3 early in the game but the students evened it up at 15-all by halftime.

The scores were locked at 22-all when the student first five-eighth Stephen Fenemore dropped a goal to break the deadlock. A late try by Tim Shearer gave the students the bonus point.

Cam Rutherford kicked seven goals when Kaikorai beat Harbour 46-3.

Lock Richard Thompson scored three tries when Dunedin beat Zingari-Richmond 38-0.

The scores were: University A 32, Taieri 22; Pirates 22, Southern 19; Dunedin 38, Zingari-Richmond 0; Alhambra-Union 48, Green Island 22; Kaikorai 46, Harbour 3.
