Tennis: King-Turner scores major upset in Greece

New Zealand tennis player Dan King-Turner scored a career-best victory in the first round of the Rhodes Challenger tournament in Greece today (NZt).

King-Turner, ranked at 244, beat Swiss Davis Cup player and world No 57 Marco Chiudinelli 6-2 3-6 7-6. It is the first top 100 victory for the Kiwi player.

The win gains King-Turner six ATP singles ranking points and has set him up for a second round match against former top 50 ranked Nicolas Mahut of France.

In doubles, King-Turner and Australian partner, Sam Groth won their first round match defeating Latvian Andis Juska and Russian Mikhail Ledovskikh 6-4 6-2.

They play top seeds Jamie Murray and Jonathan Marray from Britain in the quarterfinals.
