Adam Hall knew what he needed to do as he left for his final run.

A clean run was likely to yield a medal in the men's slalom standing ski — it was just a case of which colour.

That clean run eventuated and the colour ended up being bronze, netting his second medal of the Beijing Winter Paralympics, which concluded yesterday.

It takes the Dunedin-born, Wanaka-based alpine skier's career Paralympic medal total to five and followed the golds he won in the slalom standing ski in 2010 and 2018.

Hall (34) had placed himself well earlier in the day, a superb run of 42.70sec leaving him second, behind France's Arthur Bauchet.

However, it is the times of two runs combined that decide the final results.

A fast second run from China's Liang Jingyi put the pressure on the Kiwi.

He clocked 49.01sec, the eventual fastest second run, in what was an all-round slower round.

Hall followed him down the mountain, although was slightly off Jingyi's pace the whole way and finished in 50.51sec.

He looked to rally late, but came up just short, clocking a time of 1min 33.21sec.

While it ended his gold medal defence, it left Hall comfortably among the medals, over three seconds ahead of fourth-placed Swiss Thomas Pfyl.

Bauchet then finished in style, claiming gold in 1min 29.61sec.

The result followed a bronze medal in the super standing combined event last week.

In the sitting slalom, ski fellow New Zealander Aaron Ewen finished ninth.
