Co-ordinator of volunteers Rebecca Shaw said after a break of three months where in-patient unit staff were onsite and there was a limited roster of volunteers, the hospice was slowly getting back to normal and was looking to recruit volunteers to work in the kitchen.
Volunteers were asked to commit to one to two shifts a month, she said.
The main need was the afternoon shift from 3pm to 6.30pm.
"This is a solo shift, where volunteers prepare and serve afternoon tea, and prepare and serve a light meal."
The main meal of the day was lunch which was prepared by the cook and there were also shifts available working alongside the cook from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
An information session for potential kitchen volunteers will be held on Tuesday, June 21 — email rebecca.shaw@otagohospice.co.nz for details.
